Elisabeth Herring Obituary

CHANGE IN VENUE FOR VISITATION AND FUNERAL SERVICE

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend, Elisabeth Marie Herring. She was born at Saint Joseph Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan on July 8th, 1992 to Cathy Jo Laws Herring and John Henry Herring. At the time of her passing, she lived in Las Vegas, Nevada. She died as a result of a car accident in Arizona on her way to attend a cousin’s wedding in Utah.

Elisabeth is now reunited with her mother and grandparents. Elisabeth captured the hearts of everyone she met, she blessed the lives of everyone she met. She was a true, loyal friend. She showed her love of her Savior through her love for family, friends, and animals. She loved her nieces and nephews. Elisabeth had a sense of humor, she referred to herself as “fun size” due to her height. She had varied interests ranging from doing make up tutorials, riding her motorcycle, playing soccer and volleyball, remodeling her condo, gaming with a cute name of “Lilsecret”, eating sushi, and playing with cousins. She was not afraid to work hard to accomplish her goals in life; she showed this through earning the “Young Women's” medallion in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She graduated from Ypsilanti High School (YHS) and the Early College Alliance program at Eastern Michigan University in 2010. She was a four-year athlete of both soccer and volleyball programs and sang soprano in the Chamber Singers at YHS. She furthered her education at Weber State College and earned her degree in Criminal Justice. She was a paralegal at Kristopher K. Greenwood and Associates out of Ogden, Utah.

She is survived by her father John Herring. Her brother, Joshua, his wife Jessica, and their two daughters of Ypsilanti, MI. Her brother Adam, his wife Allexis, and their three sons of Spring Mills, PA. And her brother Jacob, and his wife Allison, of Provo, Utah. Also, her boyfriend, Chris West, of Las Vegas, NV. Along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbors, and church family.

A visitation with family, including viewing of pictures and mementos of Elisabeth’s life will be held at Janowiak Funeral Home, Geer-Logan Chapel, 320 N. Washington St., Ypsilanti on Friday, June 5th, 2020 from 4-8pm.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 6th, 2020.  A Graveside Prayer Service for Elisabeth will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti, Michigan, at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.  Contributions in Elisabeth's memory may be made for a Memorial in her name.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

John what a terrible loss for your family. I grieve with you. Your precious late wife, Cathy Jo, was a beloved student of mine in my Spanish class at YHS. I hope all your memories of each will give you solace.

When we moved into the Ypsi ward, Cathy Jo was 8 months pregnant with this beautiful, fun loving, amazing young lady. When we heard of the terrible accident, we were in shock and grief. Our hearts and prayers are with the Herring family and our Ypsi family. It's hard to hear of the death of one so young. The only comfort is picturing the loving family reunion with her mom and grandparents. We love you Herring family!

A very loving, Kind and Helpful Young Lady. A reflection of her tremendous upbringing. Very tragic to be called back to your heavenly home at such a young age. I'm sure They are all planning something for us all when we finally return home as well. Prayers and love to the John Herring Family during this time.

I am so sorry for your family loss. Liz was a beautiful person and great leader. I got to know she and Chris through soccer in Las Vegas and was so appreciative of her nature to bring our team together. My heart breaks for her family, loved ones and friends. May her memory be cherished.

My dear Elizabeth, I wish so much that I had known you better. I knew your mother very well and loved her with all of my heart. Certainly, you have a part of Kathy-Jo within your soul and heart. May our Savior, Jesus the Christ ever bless and send his everlasting love and light to surround your family during this time of such great loss, sorrow and sadness. It is not the dead that we weep for, but rather, we weep for the living, left here on earth with broken hearts. We know those that have crossed over the veil live in joy, pure love and peace. I know how much Kathy -Jo must feel having you in her arms once again. May God bless all of your family,

It is indeed heart wrenchingly sad when life is cut short. May God's peace and comfort be with you and yours - as you remember that she was received into loving arms that so missed her - and now for a time (perhaps what seems like a very long time) you will deeply miss her. Let God's love envelop you. Feel His arms around you helping you to bear up and be comforted amid your deep loss.

Elizabeth was glitter and shine! We love her passion for life, her love of beauty, and her caring heart. She was the softness and spitfire in a family of boys. How we will miss you sweet girl, till we meet again!

Elisabeth is a beautiful loving woman I have only known for a couple of years. She was fantastic with children and made friends where ever she went. Every life she touched was better after she spent time with them. She will always be missed and loved. Our family enjoyed every minute we spent with her and Christopher. I know we will see her again soon but we all miss the years of joy we could of had with her. With Love
