Elizabeth (Betsy) Lang Phillips was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 18, 1951 and died when a tragic accident took her life on July 1, 2023. She attended the Mountain Brook School System and graduated from Mountain Brook High School in 1969. Betsy attended Auburn University three years before joining her parents, Ed and Louise Lang in Gulf Breeze, FL. Betsy's first husband, Ben Meadows, died of cancer. She and her second husband, Vern Phillips, lived in Illinois, Gulf Breeze, FL, Dallas, GA, and finally in Cedar Bluff, AL to enjoy retirement. However, Vern died of cancer in 2020. Betsy loved being on the farm and caring for all of her animals: dogs, cats, horses, chickens and birds.

Betsy loved being around all her friends and family and was always ready for a new adventure. She loved life and lived it to its fullest.

The Celebration of Life for Betsy was held on July 22, 2023 at her home in Cedar Bluff.

Survivors include her step-son, Jeff Phillips (Marianne); step-daughter, Tracy Ann Hicks (Ralph); brother, Brian Lang (Janis); sister, Barbara Robinson (Andy); step-grand children, Isabella Roberts, Ryan Roberts, Austin Phillips, Gavin Phillips, Gage Phillips, Greyson Phillips; step-great grandchild, Stella Roberts; nieces, Allison Macfie (John), Melissa Brannon (Ken), Catherine Sutton (Shane); great nephews, Evan Macfie, Miller Macfie, Colton Sutton; great nieces, Payton Brannon, and Paige Brannon.
