Elizabeth (Betty) Balles Obituary
Betty dedicated 30 years of her life to Universal Instruments, where she retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. She was deeply respected by her colleagues and formed many lasting friendships throughout her career. After retiring, she also volunteered her time to RSVP.
Betty was the loving matriarch of a large and adoring family. She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Holmes, Donna-Rae (Neal) Gilbert, and her bonus son, Kenneth (Beth) Stevens. Betty was a proud grandmother to Amanda-Rae (Michael) Novitch, Elizabeth (Michael) Hanyon, Ashleigh (Craig Elliott) Layton, Trevor (Katie) Holmes, Sage Holmes, Devon (Kat) Holmes, Dylan Balles, and bonus granddaughter, Katy (Jason) Stevens-Klucherosky. She was also a great-grandmother to 12 great-grandchildren who loved and adored their "Granna". Additionally, Betty leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Vallie Brand; her husband, Robert; daughters, Joanne Layton and Nancianne Stevens; son-in-law, Bruce Holmes; grandson, Andrew; and siblings, Sidney, Marjorie, and Shirley.
A memorial service will be held to honor Betty's life on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the Crossroads of Life Church, located at 18 Exchange St, Binghamton, NY. The service will be a time for family, friends, and acquaintances to come together and celebrate the wonderful life Betty lived and the impact she had on those around her.
