Elizabeth L. Christian

Elizabeth L. Christian of Abington, PA, loving wife, mother and friend passed peacefully at home on May 21, 2016 with her family at her side after a short illness. She was 60. Born in Baltimore, MD to the late Daniel and Elizabeth Loden, Liz graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School in Towson, MD and Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, where she met her husband and best friend, Steve. She was the beloved wife of Stephen W. Christian for 34 years; devoted mother of Danny Christian, who predeceased her, Kelly E. Christian of Philadelphia, PA and Peter W. Christian of Baltimore, MD; and loving sister of John (Marilyn) Loden of Naples, FL and Kathleen Barbuti of Parkville, MD. Liz spent the majority of her life doing what fulfilled her most—being a devoted, supportive and loving wife; providing her children with the guidance and unconditional love that has allowed them to be successful, independent people; travelling extensively with her family and joyfully experiencing new adventures; working and volunteering tirelessly to improve the lives of people around the world through initiatives in city schools, adult literacy, the Abington Library, her church, the local school district, and in Tanzania and Nicaragua; and being a special friend to all, with her smiles and selfless, non-judgmental spirit. Relatives and friends will be received between 6PM and 9PM on Tuesday, May 31 at George G. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home at 1500 Old York Rd. Abington, PA 19001. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 1 at 11AM at Our Lady Help of Christians Church at 1500 Marian Rd. Abington, PA 19001. The family will greet family and friends at 9:30AM preceding the service. Interment will be private. A foundation has been established by her family (Liz Christian Foundation) to keep Liz’s philanthropical spirit alive for future generations. The foundation will support causes that have been important to her and future ones that her children believe Liz would want to support. Willow Grove, PA 19090, the family’s church which has played such an important role in their lives.
