Betsy was the bright red rose in the crowd at our family gatherings. She was always smiling and had compliments for everyone...such a friendly soul. I will miss her and the colorfulness that she added to the room when she entered.

I am Betsy's cousin. I helped my mother and father, Sal care for her during the past couple of months. I was thinking about her life and realize that Betsy was a survivor from her first day on this earth until time Jesus took her with him to free her from the pain and suffering with which she had lived for over 60 years.
She was happiest when spending time with her family and her companion cat, Tootsie. I cried tears both with and for Betsy in her final days on earth. However, the tears betsy cried were not for herself; they were for my my mother and me. Even though she could not verbally communicate for 15 days, she was able to write on a tablet and told my mother and me "don't be upset". Even thouth she was in pain, she was more concerned with my and my mother's well-being.

At first, the tears I cried were for her pain and death. However, after she passed, my dad Sal made a comment reminding me that the tears I shed were selfish. He said to me "now she is free at last". I thank him for that comment, because he is totally right and I am now able to refocus my emotions on the goodness of God and how He saves us in times of need! Thank you Sal. I now can be happy for her because she is with our Savior and at perfect peace.
Now the tears I cry are for the empty hole in our family she once occupied.

Betsy was ready to be with the Lord. I talked with her many times and assured her that Jesus had his arms around her and was at her side. She would have perfect peace in heaven with other family members who have passed.

One of the many blessings I have witnessed in my life was the one VERY good day we were able to spend with Betsy just prior to her death. She was smiling, talking, and bright. It was one of the richest blessings for which I will be forever grateful of our Lord.

She passed on only one day after the awesome day with which we were blessed. Now I am comforted by her being with the Lord with no more of the pain she experienced on earth. I am happy and rejoice for her; she is Heaven with the perfect One. God is good. Some day we will all be together again in God's presence. Betsy was ready to be with the Lord; but only He knows the exact plan and His details for our lives and deaths. Even though children that are not always "planned" by their earthly parents, the Lord knows them and has His plan for them. A life is a gift from God and He does not make mistakes.

He knew us before we were conceived and knows when we will be returned to him. Each life is precious to Him and His plan will prevail.

Betsy will be missed by many. She had friends from our hometown and some from other states. Even her friends from out of state were able to support her through friendship and love through email, phone calls, etc. Our thanks go out to all of you. You all really enriched her life and made a positive difference. Do not be sad because of her death; she is Heaven now, place living a peaceful, painfree life with our perfect Lord and Savior. Be happy for her; like my dad said, "She is Free at last".

Dear Family:

I never had the chance to meet Betsy in person but hearing stories of how she was such a great person and friend made me feel so close to her. Her beauty and personality showed through others. May God give you peace and strenght through this time of sorrow. She will truly be missed.

God Bless!

My friend, we never saw each other in person, only pictures, but we talked on the phone for hours. I miss you so much!
I know you are at peace with your mom.
