Elizabeth Mary Cobbs

Elizabeth Mary Cobbs, 92, died peacefully at her home in Albemarle County on Thursday, November 8, 2012.

She was born in Albemarle County, on October 30, 1920, to the late Lucian and Ada Scott Garland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Peter Price Cobbs. Elizabeth was treasured as a Mother to many. She embraced her family, Church and friends weth the compassion of a mother. She had several occupations and later in her life worked as a companion/caregiver. She attended Garland School in Buck Island, Albemarle County where she grew up. She had a passion for exploration and traveled extensively with her husband and family. During her life she journeyed throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. She toured Europe, Israel, South America, Japan and the Philippines. She had strong faith in God and Looked forward to her final pilgrimage. She is survived by two sons, Peter Cobbs of Canoga Park, California, and Phillip Cobbs of Albemarle County, Virginia; one sister, Lucille Anderson of Charlottesville, Virginia; two grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Cobbs; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held 12 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012, at the J. F. Bell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Adams officiating. Interment will follow at the Garland family cemetery in Buck Island. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. J. F. Bell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I remember Elizabeth as a very beautiful women who was always kind and careing. She will be missed dearly. She would always visit the Buck Island family with open arms.

It was good knowing Mrs. Elizabeth Cobbs, a great family friend, since growing up. She is remembered as a good-natured, God-loving individual, and also, her good cooking.
