Elizabeth Culkin Obituary
Elizabeth Margaret (Libby) Culkin passed away on July 19th, 2013 at Cedars Villa Nursing Home. Libby was born to James and Margaret Culkin, on June 6, 1928 in Montreal, Quebec, and moved to Calgary where she graduated from Western Canada High School. She then attended Parsons School of Design, in New York City, and shortly thereafter became the Chief Interior Designer for Keith Homes in Calgary, where she worked for many years. Libby designed homes for many prominent Calgarians, and her show homes in Willow Park and Lake Bonavista, were legendary. Her 85 years were richly filled with family and friends, and a life long pursuit of many interests and hobbies. Libby lent her artistic talents to Miniatures, Antique Doll Collecting, and decorating homes well into her 70's. Libby was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Bud. She is survived by a host of loyal friends. At Libby's request no service will be held. A memorial tea is planned for September to honour a life well lived.

A wonderful sensitive lady who treated my wife Linda and myself very well, and was our good friend for many years. We are saddened and feel this loss deeply. She knew my family and was highly thought of for her great Interior Design talents. But most of all a special , and unique lady

Libby was a close friend who invited me to paint murals on the walls of her show homes. We also shared a country garden for growing vegetables. She was a remarkable, professional interior designer whose show homes were spectacular in their display of color as well as furnishings from her travels around the world. I admired Libby's artistic talent and generosity.
