Elizabeth Ann Rodgers Faulkner passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at her home in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Elizabeth was born on September 17, 1934, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Mary Louise and Herbert Dewey Rodgers. In 1950, while living in Bowie, Texas she met and later married Homer Lee Faulkner of Vashti, Texas. In 1951 Liz and Homer moved to Denton, Texas and started a family. They had 3 daughters, Mellissa Lea, Christy Ann and Sherry Diane. Liz was very talented and loved to sew. She enjoyed dressing her three dolls, as she liked to refer to her daughters, in matching outfits. She made curtains for a local mobile home manufacturer and did custom sewing for her friends. She was active in her church, Asbury United Methodist and in the Methodist Women's Group.

In the late 1960's, Liz attended Texas Woman's University to obtain a degree in psychology. She completed her degree and began working in the counseling field. Her life took a different direction in 1975 when she divorced her husband. She moved to Sherman, TX where she went on to obtain her PhD in Education from East Texas State University. She trained in Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling and Marriage and Family Counseling. She loved working with people and helping them obtain their goals in life.

In 1990, Liz made a life change and moved to Camp Verde, Arizona to continue her work with children and adults. She was a counselor in the Arizona school system and did individual and group counseling.

In the mid 1990's, Liz took an opportunity to work for a counseling agency in Casa Grande, Arizona. She continued to do individual and group counseling until she retired in 2013.

Liz enjoyed collecting dolls throughout her life. She used her sewing talents to make clothes and made dolls for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She crocheted, knitted and quilted throughout her life. She made scrap books for her children and enjoyed coloring on her phone. She loved to read and watch movies.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jean Taylor of Bowie, TX, her son Robert Faulkner and her grandson Christopher Martin. She is survived by her daughters Mellissa (&Dan) Martin of Georgetown, TX, Christy Taylor of Casa Grande, AZ, Sherry (&David) Frye of Decatur, TX and 4 grandchildren, Joseph Duckworth of Arizona City, AZ, Jennifer Duckworth of Casa Grande, AZ, Michelle Martin of Liberty Hill, TX, Shannon DeVeny (& Felipe Maurer) and 7 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Home of Hope in Casa Grande through the Teen Challenge of Arizona website, tcaz.org.

There will be a celebration of life service for Elizabeth on Saturday, September 14 at the Compass Christian Church, 1510 N Casa Grande Ave, Casa Grande AZ from 2PM to 4PM.
