Elizabeth Gorsuch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 8, 2023.
Elizabeth Jane Gorsuch, also known as Betty, passed away on August 6, 2023, at the age of 81 in Fleming Island, Florida. She was born on May 7, 1942, in Chester, Pennsylvania, to Dominick and Elizabeth Iannucci. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Barbara Raspa.

Betty had a contagious smile and a twinkle in her eyes that made everyone she met feel special. She had a warm and welcoming personality, never considering anyone a stranger. She was a loving wife to Robert W. Gorsuch for 60 years and cherished her family deeply. Betty's love for God was an integral part of her life.

In her free time, Betty enjoyed spending hours sunbathing on the beach and indulging in her favorite extra dirty Martinis. She was also a talented artist and enjoyed boating and golfing. Betty's generosity extended to inviting anyone in need of company to her holiday dinners, opening her home to ensure that no one was alone on special occasions.

Betty is survived by her beloved husband, Robert W. Gorsuch, and their children: Jeff Gorsuch (Laurie), Missy Hughes (Dave), Kenny Gorsuch (Missy), and Kimberly Halil (Rick). She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Joshua Gorsuch (Travis Chapin), Logan Halil, Madison Gorsuch, Carter Halil, Elizabeth Faber, Henry Faber, and Sydney Gorsuch. Betty is also survived by her sister, Donna Kelley, and her brother, Donald Iannucci. She was a loving aunt to Scott Iannucci and Brian Iannucci.

Betty attended Eddy stone Hugh School for her high school education. She later pursued a career as a Medical Contractor Civil Service for Jacksonville Naval Air Station.

St. Catherine's and later Sacred Heart were the places of worship where Betty found solace and spiritual nourishment.

A funeral service will be held in Betty's honor at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 7190 Highway 17 South, Fleming Island, Florida, on August 14, 2023, at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in memory of Betty Gorsuch.

Betty will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her contagious joy and generous spirit touched the lives of many. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

We cannot feel life's losses without first feeling the blessings of its fullness. So blessed to have Betty as my cousin and godmother. She will forever be in our hearts. May all the happy memories carry you through this sorrowful time.

The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness. Isaiah 57:1-2
Betty was such a beautiful and loving soul. She wasn´t my grandmother by blood but she always made sure I knew I was apart of her family. Her big heart, open arms and warming laugh will truly be missed but never forgotten. Betty will now get to spend eternity filled with the joy she so freely gave while she was with us.

Aunt Betty will be missed dearly. I still have a bible she gave me from 1983 telling me how much she loved me. She will be deeply missed and I pray she is having a cocktail, laughing with Grapps/Grandmom and Aunt Barbara. I hope to see them again one day.

Jeff played football for my dad at OPHS. I have many great memories of Mrs. Gorsuch planting a kiss on my cheek and leaving her lipstick imprint. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Betty was the mother, sister, and wife, everyone dreamed of. Growing up and years to follow, we always heard "i want to be like her". In high school and art college, she was always voted most popular. In Eddystone, the town she grew up and her twin Barbara, were affectionately known as the "Iannucci twins", that everyone looked up too. It was alway a fun filled house with laughter and love. Betty and Barbara were definitely the extension of our parents, as their children are now.
They are together again "the twins" dancing and laughing with angels and embracing a new world they now reside.

"Time is too slow for those who wait,
Too swift for those who fear,
Too long for those who grieve,
Too short for those who rejoice,
But for those who love, time is eternity."
