Elizabeth Guinn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 18, 2009.
ELIZABETH HENNEN FORMAN FLOETER GUINN, 61, beloved mother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend, passed away on Friday, the 13th of November 2009, at home in Houston, surrounded by loved ones, after a long, courageous battle with brain cancer. Throughout her ordeal, she refused to complain and tickled her visitors by cracking jokes, even during her final weeks.Hennen graduated from Memorial High School and received her B.S. in Education from the University of Texas at Austin. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 38 years, Kyle, who adored her, and a wonderful mother to her two children, Clay and Jack. She cheerfully dedicated countless hours to their schools, scout troops, and athletic teams, all the while instilling in them a love for the marvels life tenders. When they were a little older, she embarked on a fifteen-year career as a Realtor, and her knack for the business earned her the respect and admiration of clients and peers alike.During her final years, she directed her boundless enthusiasm at her farm, outside Round Top, where she could relax, garden, and escape the city. Friends and family came often to congregate, comb the markets for antiques, and watch the sun come and go while her beloved dog, Lucy, harassed birds and cattle and fetched tennis balls.Hennen was preceded in death by her husband; her mother and father, Dot and John Floeter; her mother- and father-in-law, Peggy and Ruel Guinn; her uncle Hennen Forman; and her niece, Mikhael Floeter. She is survived by her sons; her daughter-in-law, Kami; her sister, Millie Drumwright; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Shirley Floeter; her nephews, Jon and Chris Drumwright and Joshua Floeter; her niece, Kirsten Davis; Kyle's aunt, Nadine Perkins; her cousin Sally Horrigan; and a host of other fantastic friends and family members. Her friends and family wish to express their deepest gratitude to her caregivers, who watched over Hennen patiently and tirelessly in her final months.A memorial service is to be conducted at six o'clock in the evening on Friday, the 20th of November, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediately following the memorial service, a reception will be held in the adjacent foyer until nine o'clock in the evening. In lieu of the usual remembrances, the family requests the donations be made to The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center P. O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486 (www.mdanderson.org) or to Heifer Project International, 1 World Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72202 (www.heifer.org).
