Betty was born on March 12, 1917, in Buckner, Illinois. She met Michael Hegedus while working at a World War II defense plant in Chicago, and they were married on May 16, 1945. While in Cary, she was active in many groups associated with her son's and daughter's school activities, as well as the Cary Garden Club, McHenry County Association for Home and Community Education (Homemakers), and the American Needlepointers Guild, Fox Chapter.

May your heart soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. How wonderful to have lived for 100 years. Please accept my deepest sympathy and know she is in a better place. I remember vividly your Mom when she came to Gaithersburg with you, telling me how old she was (80's) then and very proud of it. She had a great sense of humor.
