Elizabeth Frances Herod, aka, Aunt Fran, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Treyton Oak Towers. She was born in Grayson County to the late James A. and Thary A. (Cooke) Burns. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII but never made a fuss about it. Every spring, she turned her backyard in the Highlands into a grand garden. While at TOT, she volunteered in the Walnut Street Baptist Church clothing ministry and solicited donations of clothing from her neighbors. She worked much of her life at Yellowstone Distilleries. She is also preceded in death by her husband, William R. "Chick" Herod; sisters, Lillian Calice, Mary Jane Holmes, and Myrtle Haunz; brothers, Bill and Charles Burns.
Left behind to cherish her memory are 6 nieces and nephews; Snow Ann Holmes Shelton, George L. Holmes, Bill Holmes, Wanda Sue Holmes Hassel, Patricia Haunz Shaver, and Denise Haunz Francis; 14 great nieces and nephews; 22 great-great nieces and nephews; and 3 great-great-great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 12:00pm at Arch L Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville Kentucky 40218 with a burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Clothing Ministry - Walnut Street Baptist Church, 1101 South 3rd Street, Louisville Kentucky 40203
