Mrs. Hughes was my 7th and 8th grade math/science/social studies teacher at Divine Redeemer from 1997-99. Mrs. Hughes easily was among the best teachers I ever had. Even now I can recall some of the stories from her life that she wove into her teaching, most notably from her childhood on a tobacco farm. I know that I am where I am today in no small part because of how well she prepared us all for our education beyond Divine Redeemer School.

Mrs. Hughes always a fabulous person, teacher, grandmother that I witnessed myself for several years. When my son's class went on field trips, and she taught both my boys at Divine Redeemer School several years ago. We send our sincere gratitude and sympathy to her family!

Libby will always have a special place in our hearts. She taught all three of our children, Lindsay, Brian, and Chelsea. Libby was their most favorite teacher, hands down, and Chelsea became a teacher herself. She had a way of incorporating such fun aspects into her teaching plans, dressing up as characters and made learning fun. We will miss her terribly. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kelly and Michael during this time.

She was a wonderful person that always had time to talk to a parent of one of her students even if she met them on the street. She was funny and always smiling.

I had the privilege of teaching with Libby for 12 years at Divine Redeemer. She was very knowledgeable and devoted so much of her life to teaching. We used to do the best field trips together. She has left a legacy that expands far and wide. Her students (including my own two children) will always remember her. Sending love and prayers to her family and all those close to her.

We were saddened to hear the news about your Mom. We thought so highly of her. She taught Colleen at DRS and because of Libby, Colleen was prepared for high school math. Your Mom was an awesome teacher - dedicated, patient and kind. You are in our thoughts and prayers. May God bless you.

Mrs. Hughes was one of the best teachers I´ve ever had. She is where my love of Clemson football began. I enjoyed all of my years knowing her. She was such a wonderful person. She will be truly missed.

Mrs. Libby Hughes was a gift to my family. My son Alex loved her class and she was one of his favorite teachers. Definitely made learning fun and made a positive difference in the lives of so many children and families. She was a loved basketball coach, the best coach ever. She was also Broadway star in Mrs. Cassells musical with the children ! I am very thankful for our adventures, and visiting her homeplace in the country. She will forever be missed and always loved. Sending prayers and strength to Kelley & Michael and grandchildren. Also to her sisters & family. Fly High Jeanette Plog
