Elizabeth Filomena Lacek

Elizabeth Filomena Lacek of King of Prussia Elizabeth Filomena (Vagnoni) Lacek, “Betty”, age 88 of King of Prussia, passed away peacefully at her home on May 6, 2015. Betty was born in Conshohocken to the late Saturno (Jack) and Carmella “Millie” (Denno) Vagnoni on March 17th, 1927. She graduated from Conshohocken High School Class of 1944. While still in high school she worked for her father’s company, S.J. Vagnoni & Sons Builders, as a bookkeeper. After graduating, during and after the War, she worked in Philadelphia for various government agencies including The Maritime Commission, the Wage & Salary Stabilization Board and the Air Force Audit Department. After her marriage to Joseph A. Lacek, Jr. in 1956, she enjoyed keeping her lovely home in King of Prussia and raising her three children. She often worked with Joseph at the Wurlitzer Piano & Organ Company in Philadelphia. From 1989-2013, Betty was a bookkeeper for World Wide Travel in Malvern. During her years at the travel agency, she enjoyed extensive travel to Europe and many cruises and trips around the U.S. She enjoyed family gatherings, good food, gardening, crossword puzzles, card games and reading. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Joseph A. Lacek Jr. and two brothers Richard (Evelyn) and Robert (Ann) Vagnoni. Betty is survived by her sister, Shirley (Gerald) Costa of Plymouth Meeting; 2 sons, Joseph (Lisa) Lacek of Glenmoore and Michael Lacek of Boyertown; a daughter Patricia Davis (Walter Hungerford) of King of Prussia; four grandchildren, Cara Davis Cicippio (Timothy), Joseph Davis, Jennifer Lacek and Michael Lacek; a great-grandson Enzo Joseph Cicippio; two step-grandchildren, Brad (Abby) and Jessica Brunner; many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may pay respects on Wednesday morning, May 13th, from 9-10:50am at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia. A funeral mass will commence in the church at 11am officiated by Rev. Pastor Ciopi. Interment will take place the following day, Thursday, May 14th, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Wilkes Barre, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Research Institute (www.cancerresearch.org). Professional arrangements are by the William A. Moore Funeral Home, 708 Fayette St., Conshohocken. The family wishes to extend their love and gratitude to the wonderful staff of Heartland Hospice for their care and support.
