Elizabeth Anne "Betty" Lessert UPPER Elizabeth Anne (Betty) Lessert passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Harbor House Hospice Center in Houston with Johnny Nunez, her longtime partner, at her side. Betty was born on April 25, 1947, in Borger, Texas, to Walter Lessert and Hazel Tennant Lessert.

Betty graduated from Borger High School in 1965 and earned her bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Betty went on to earn her master's degree in education from TSU. While at Texas Tech, Betty was a cheerleader and a member of Chi Omega Sorority.

Betty dedicated her life to education by serving 32 years in Friona, Texas and Pasadena, Texas. She left her mark on many students at Stuchbery Elementary in PISD.

After retiring from education, she became the Director of M.I. Lewis Social Service Center in Dickinson, Texas. During her 14 years with M.I. Lewis, she was instrumental in establishing many community outreach programs and managed the organization through the devastating impacts of both Hurricane Ike and Hurricane Harvey to the Dickinson community. She also served on the Board of the Dickinson Education Foundation and Dickinson Historical Society. Betty was honored by the Galveston Daily News for her community service.

Betty dedicated many years to Beta Signa Phi, a service sorority. She served in many offices including President of the organization.

Betty is survived by her stepdaughters, Michele Clark and husband, Greg and Jessica Benson and her husband, Latseen. She had two grandchildren. Cortney Cross and Cameron Clark and 4 great grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her longtime partner, Johnny Nunez, who has been by her side throughout her journey.

Betty was proceeded in death by her parents, Walter and Hazel Lessert.

Betty's memorial service will be held on January 18th at 2:00 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Dickinson, TX.

Donations in Betty's honor may be made to M.I. Lewis Social Service Center and Dickinson Education Foundation.

Betty, what a blessing it was to have you in my life. You showed me what a good friend is and always found the fun in life. Every time I hear "You Can Call Me Al," I´ll think of you and remember many wonderful times spent with you.

I´ve known Betty since junior high school. She was always full of joy and energy. She attended or Borger, Texas class reunions, & brought much joy & happiness. I pray for those she loved. They truly will miss her.
