ELIZABETH "LIBBY" Boghosian Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 8, 2025.
Tulare - Elizabeth "Libby" Boghosian, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born on New Year's Day, 1938, in Del Rio, Texas, Libby was the youngest of twelve children, all of whom she now joins in rest. At the age of seven, her family moved to Tulare, California, the town she would forever call home. She graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1956.

As a young woman, Libby worked as a carhop at Marv's Drive-In, where she met the love of her life, Leo. They married in August of 1956 and began a beautiful life together, raising three daughters, Kathy, Patti, and Elizabeth, whom Libby always called "the lights of her life." She exemplified the true meaning of unconditional love.

Libby's warmth and kindness were immediately felt by anyone who knew her. Her hugs were genuine and comforting, her home always open and filled with love. Whether preparing your favorite dish or effortlessly assembling a shareable snack, she delighted in making people feel cared for. Her enchiladas were unforgettable, her hospitality extraordinary, and her kitchen was the heart of her home.

Spirited and passionate, Libby poured her heart into everything she did-her family, her friends, and her work. Together with Leo, she founded Lion's Supply, Boghosian Construction, and The Argonaut Mine restaurant in Visalia. Later, she worked for Wasnick Bros. and the Tulare Board of Realtors, before retiring in 1999 to begin a new chapter.

Libby was deeply committed to her community. She served as President of several local organizations, including the Tulare County Symphony League, Les Petite Amies, Soroptimist International of Tulare, and Tulare Republican Women Federated. She mentored young women through the Miss Tulare County beauty pageant, encouraging confidence and boldness-values she instilled in her own daughters. Through the Tulare County Farm Equipment Show, she welcomed international guests, sharing her love of food and culture. In her later years, she also opened her home to foreign exchange college students, many of whom became dear friends. She was also an active member of the Tulare Valley Garden Club, Tulare Historical Museum, and numerous other civic groups.

Her memory will live on through: Kathleen (Kathy) Todd (Greg), Patti Boghosian, and Elizabeth (Craig) Jacobson; her grandchildren: Chase Jones (Angelina), Zevan Williams, Olivia Jacobson, Zac Jacobson, Bryon Todd, Eric Todd, and Lisa (John) Sterling, her great-grandsons, Jameson and Niko Jones, who lovingly called her "GG.

Libby will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends, neighbors, and people she touched and considered family. She loved fiercely and fully, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience.

We love you, Mom. And we can still hear you saying, "I love you more."

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 18th at 10:30 AM at Saint Aloysius Church, Tulare. Graveside services will follow at North Tulare Cemetery for those who wish to attend. In true Libby fashion, all are invited to join the family afterwards for a luncheon at the Visalia Country Club, 520 W. Ranch Road, Visalia, where stories, laughter, and good food will be shared in her honor.

Shortly before her passing, I called Aunt Libby and we had a wonderful, long talk. She truly accepted me as her niece when I married her nephew, Jerry. I have many wonderful memories of family gatherings and one-on-one talks. She will be missed.
