Elizabeth R. Marable was born on November 25, 1915 in Clinton, South Carolina to the late Thompson and Alene Reeder. She took her flight to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Life Care Center, Hendersonville, NC. She attended the Clinton, South Carolina schools and graduated from Bell Street High School. She furthered her education at Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina where she pursued a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. Her teaching career began in Johanna, South Carolina where she taught at Woodson Elementary School. She was a beloved and admired teacher that instilled in her first and second graders a love of learning. She retired after 23 years in the classroom. She married the late John R. Marable on April 12, 1941 and they shared a beautiful marriage of 60 years. After her retirement, she became a secretary in Wadesboro, North Carolina at J.R. Faison School where her husband, the late John R. Marable was principal. She was a beautiful, well liked, and gracious lady. Elizabeth was a faithful member of Star of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess and a member of the Senior Mission Circle. She was also a member of the Wadesboro Elite Double Six Club, the Women's Social Savings Club of Hendersonville, and the South Carolina Teacher Fellowship Association. Her dedication and perseverance left an indelible mark. She is survived by her daughter, Hermanita Marable of Hendersonville, NC; her granddaughter, Ciara Marable of Raleigh, NC ; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also blessed to have many special friends that will cherish her memory. Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Star of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. C.E. Rowe will officiate, burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of Hart Funeral Service.
