Elizabeth S. Parris

Elizabeth S. Parris (née Singh) passed away peacefully at home on July 28, 2022, at the age of 70 surrounded by her family. Elizabeth was born in Georgetown, Guyana, where she resided until she emigrated to the United States in 1972, first to Manhattan, NY then settling in Northern VA and marrying. She enjoyed a long and successful career in the legal field at various law firms in the Washington Metropolitan Area. A devout Catholic, Elizabeth was an active member in her church community and enjoyed spending time with her Yorkies and grandchildren. With a penchant for serving others throughout her life, specifically in her later years upon retirement, she volunteered at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, giving back to the sick while fighting her own health battles. Elizabeth is predeceased by her loving husband of 26 years, Michael A. Parris, Sr.; her parents, Boodhan and Olga Singh; her siblings Nita R. Singh, Rudolph P. Singh, Cecil J. Singh and Chandra Hardy. She is survived by her children Michael A. Parris, Jr., Suzanne A. Parris and Christopher C. Parris; her daughter-in-law Binny Chokshi; her son-in-law J. David Goodart; her granddaughters, Arya C. Parris and Lilivati C. Parris; and seven of her twelve siblings: Leila Davis, Harry Singh, June-Ann Hu-A-Kam, Janet Singh, Pamela Fawcett, Sharon Singh, David Singh and their loving families. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Murphy Funeral Home in Falls Church from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, August 6, at 11 a.m. at Saint Philip Catholic Church with interment to follow at National Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Elizabeth may be directed to UNICEF, a cause very near to her heart.
