ASHTABULA — Elizabeth M. Pence went home to the Lord on Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the Country Club Retirement Center surrounded by friends and loved ones.She was born in Hazard, Ky. on Oct. 30, 1921, the daughter of Joe E. and Murriel E. (Burner) Brewer. She married Monroe Pence on Sept. 7, 1943.She had five children, Charles R. (Mary Ann) Pence, Joseph V. (Cindy) Pence, Margaret A. (Lynn White) Bower, Emma J. (Tony) Silva and Marvin Pence. She also had 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, John L. and Clyde H. Brewer; sisters, Margaret C. Simms, Lucille Jones, Denna F. (Andrew) Skaruppa and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, John Monroe Pence; brother, Jack R. Brewer; four brothers in infancyp; two nephews; and one niece.Memorial Services will be 4:30 p.m., Saturday, June 6th, at the Ashtabula Baptist Church, 5909 Shepard Rd., Ashtabula, Ohio, with Pastor Dan Evans, officiating.Donations may be made to Ashtabula Baptist Church Youth/Young Adult Scholarship Program in her name. Envelopes are available at the CHILDS and WILLIAMS FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1440 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, Ohio, who has charge of arrangements.Obituary and condolences at starbeacon.com.
