Elizabeth Prall Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 18, 2025.
Elizabeth Jane Allan Prall, of Dania Beach, Florida, passed away on August 29, 2025, at the age of 91. Elizabeth Jane (Betty) was born to Helen and William DeMille on July 2, 1934 in Marionette, Wisconsin, and grew up in Lake Township Stephenson, Michigan. She was lovingly referred to as "Betty Boop" by her sister, and this moniker followed her throughout her life.

During her life Betty took on numerous jobs such as working the line at the Scott Paper Company in Menominee, Michigan; running the Officer's Club in Kingsville, Texas; hosting parties for the well renowned at the Warwick Hotel in Houston, Texas; designing costumes for Colonial Williamsburg; excelling as an auditor for Wards Company, and in accounts receivable for Hoover and Strong, a gold refinery, in Richmond, Virginia; and even running her own furniture company out of Newport News, Virginia. She was an avid seamstress and crafter, and enjoyed making creations for her children, grandchildren, neighbors and friends. She found joy in taking care of friends and family, a trait she evidenced with clarity and conviction up until her very last day.

Betty faced many challenges during her life, and always having the last word, she arose as the quintessential survivor. She survived her 5 husbands, James Kuehl, Jimmy Teel, Dan Bryant, Jim Prall, and the love of her life, John Allan. She is also predeceased by her mother, Helen (Smith) DeMille; her father, William DeMille; her brothers James and Jerome DeMille; as well as four siblings who died before the age of 2. And it is certain that "Jim 2" (James Duggan) met her with a glass of scotch, "properly stirred", at her final destination.

Those left behind that were blessed to be a part of her life include her children, James (Jimmy) Allan (Melodie), Debra Allan Kuhn, John Allan (Rachel), and William (Billy) Allan (Susan); her grandchildren Karley Allan, Andrea Allan, Carter Allan, and Sofia Allan; her sister Mary Ludvigsen (Dean); her brother Wilmar (Bill) DeMille (Jeanette) and her beloved Jean Duggan (Jim).

Elizabeth prefers to remain in the afterglow of smiles and happy memories of those that held her dearest, so the family has requested no services. Inurnment will be private, according to her wishes. Those that were blessed by Betty's life may honor her memory by sending donations to Bay Aging Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 610, Urbanna, Virginia 23175.
