Elizabeth Reed Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 4, 2019.
Ft. Worth- Elizabeth Jean Reed
Died- October 3, 2019
She was born March 15, 1939 in Edon, Ohio.
Elizabeth loved her family well and extended that love to friends and strangers alike. She was a strong woman of faith, who truly loved her Lord and His Church. Family meant everything to Elizabeth "Betty". Her legacy of love and care for her husband of 60+ years, her children and grandchildren is second to none. Betty made sure every holiday was a true celebration, filled with decorations, delicious food, and joy. Betty served others well as she shared her passion for cooking and quilting. Whether it was inviting people in to her home to enjoy her hospitality and good food or teaching others how to quilt, Betty enjoyed sharing these gifts. Her handstitched quilts have been gifted to those who were ill, celebrating the birth of a child, a bridal shower gift or just because you were special in her life. She affectionately referred to these labors of love as "stitches from my heart". Betty also used these gifts to serve His church. Providing meals or baked goods for a parishioner or church function was one of her favorite ways to serve her church family. She started a quilting ministry at St. Gregory's Church. Women still gather to make lap quilts for those who are ill or infirmed. Betty also began a greeting card ministry at a local nursing home, so that the residents could send greeting cards to their loved ones. Elizabeth "Betty" Reed made everyone in her life feel special. She has left a legacy of faith, joy, love and service.
Preceded in death by- her parents, Denver and Sarah Buehrer, brother, James Buehrer and grandson, Joshua Reed.
Survivors- Devoted husband Clyde, her son Craig and wife Karen, daughter Sara Sims and husband Jerry and grandchildren, Jonathan Reed, Elizabeth Sims and Nathan Sims who affectionately called her Mear.
The Reed/Sims family would like to thank the Community hospice nurses and support staff- Dawnita, Shannon, Betty, Melanie, Desha, Dottie, Angel, Jeremy, and Donna for their compassionate care and support.

Dear Father,

To have been thought of...cared for & worried over & especially loved by
her..
You have indeed given all of us a very special and priceless gift.
From that very moment when you called her home...You let her be forever
free...free to love now without any pain...without any limits ...without any
more tears.
For in Your hourglass of eternity...we are all but seconds of sand away
from joining You...so for now dear Father, thank you for letting her be at
peace...thank you for letting her be happy..and thank you for letting her
smile and laugh again.

Soon dear Father...oh so very soon our seconds of sand shall also pass
and eternity shall be all of ours to share together ...forever. Amen

Having Betty in my life was a very special gift to me and especially to my wife, Linda. Her sweet spirit and wonderful smile comforted me on many occasions. Her passing has left a real hole in my life and I will miss her terribly. But I know that she is no longer suffering and that she and Linda are rejoicing together in the arms of our Saviour!
