ELIZABETH (BETTY) SALAMON
Betty Salamon was born near Boston, Massachusetts on March 11, 1941 to wonderful parents Armand and Elizabeth Lienard. She lived most of her life there, relocating to Riverside, California as she began experiencing health issues. A strong-willed woman, highly opinionated with generally no filter, Betty passed away in Riverside on January 18, 2017 after a long battle with COPD and the debilitating effects of smoking. Betty leaves behind son Jeffrey Salamon and his family and daughter Jennifer Hixon and her family.
For those of you who knew Betty, to say she was a tough broad from Boston would be an understatement. For those of you who didn't know Betty, she was a drum majorette throughout high school and was never short on friends. Her year book was signed by practically everyone in the school. She was homecoming queen her senior year with a long line of wanna-be boyfriends. After graduating high school Betty was recruited to Powers Modeling School in downtown Boston where she enjoyed a successful modeling career, for she was the "brunette bombshell". Her modeling career came to a sudden halt with marriage and the birth of her children. In addition to raising her kids Betty's passion was buying and selling antiques and boy did she know how to spot them…she often stated "one man's trash is another man's treasure" while digging through the shelf at Goodwill or any of several thrift stores or yard sales. She certainly lived by that phrase.
Betty battled cigarette addiction which truly robbed her of many years and dwindled her quality of life, especially struggling in the last years of her life. Smoking is a terrible addiction that puts a tremendous burden on the smoker and their family interfering with quality of life, creating countless trips to the ER not to mention the toll it takes on your body robbing oxygen needed to repair vital organs. Smoking Sucks! Still Betty loved her family and friends and enjoyed joking around and having a good time with all. On that note please join the family for a celebration of Betty's life from 5pm to 8pm on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Laws Restaurant, 9640 Indiana Avenue in Riverside. Any donations made in Betty's memory can be made to your favorite charity.
