CHULA —Elizabeth Wilkes Savelle, 86 of Chula died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Phoebe Worth Medical Center in Sylvester. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Ochlocknee Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Norman and the Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Ochlocknee City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday at the church.Born Feb. 12, 1923 in Mitchell County, Mrs. Savelle was the daughter of the late John Monroe Wilkes Jr. and Lucy Simpson Wilkes. On April 7, 1956, she married Julian Morris Savelle, who precedes her in death. Mrs. Savelle was a homemaker and an active member of Ochlocknee Baptist Church. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Amy Savelle of Watkinsville; daughter and son-in-law, Deena and David Hood of Chula; grandchildren, Heather, Anna and Patrick Savelle of Watkinsville, Tyler, Katelyn and Kelsey Hood of Chula; brother Monroy Wilkes; and nephew Wilkes Banks.
