Elizabeth Scott Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 26, 2018.
Elizabeth Hohenadel Scott, of Brooklyn, New York and Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, passed away at age 34 on September 24, 2018 after dealing with a medical condition, which came on suddenly a few months ago. Liz was the loving wife of Brian Scott and adoring mother of Owen Scott. She is also survived by her mother Bernadette Hohenadel; sister Maggie Hohenadel; brother Michael Hohenadel; sister-in-law Kathleen Hogan; niece Lucy Hohenadel; father Michael Hohenadel; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.

Liz was warm, engaging, and incredibly thoughtful. Her most defining characteristic was her witty and kind sense of humor. She left a lasting impression on everyone she knew and met. Liz was a caring friend who could be counted on to send a note or loving card on all occasions. A self-proclaimed, charmingly awkward nerd, there was nothing she loved more than a good, color-coded list.

Liz's passion for travel was born while studying in Belgium and exploring Europe. She and Brian honeymooned in Southeast Asia and covered most of the United States, with trips to Maine, the Pacific Northwest, and many more places in between. Liz traveled to 33 states and 14 countries and she loved to talk and write about her experiences.

A graduate of Loyola College of Maryland, Liz studied communications with a specialization in public relations. She was a Senior Publicity Manager at Penguin Random House as part of the Riverhead Books imprint, where she worked for the past eleven years. A voracious reader and writer, Liz's work allowed her to do what she loved. This love carried on to her personal life where she was always willing to provide a book recommendation (or three) for absolutely anyone who asked. She was also a well-accomplished writer. Liz's blog about the awkward moments in her life started as a favorite among friends, developed an online following, and generated one post so popular it was featured on Freshly Pressed. Her work was published twice, including a witty, introspective piece on Vogue.com addressing the decisions women face when changing their names upon marriage in the age of Facebook.

In the coming months, Liz's family and friends will hold a memorial to celebrate her beautiful, accomplished life. Details will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund for her son Owen has been established and for those who would like to donate in her memory, checks can be made out to "Owen Scott" and sent to 25 Westminster Drive Princeton Junction, NJ 08550.

I was fortunate to share Liz's love of reading at an early age, as I was her librarian in elementary school. She read voraciously and enthusiastically everything I could suggest. She was a joy in my classroom and will always remain a treasure in my heart.

I never had the gift of meeting Liz but I was a avid follower of her fun, engaging writing.
We were third or fourth cousins and I was looking forward to meeting her one day.
