On August 10, 2025 Elizabeth "Betty" Mae Torrey (nee Proctor) passed peacefully in Santa Rosa, California at 94 years with family by her side. Betty also resided in Pompano Beach, FL, Easthampton and Greenfield, MA.

Born on June 9, 1931 in Springfield, MA to the late John and Roxie (Wilson) Proctor, Betty graduated Ludlow High School and further received a Registered Nursing Degree from Springfield Hospital School of Nursing.

Betty embraced nursing and caring for others during her employment at Springfield Hospital, as a visiting nurse with Easthampton Visiting Nurses Association and as a temporary school nurse in the Easthampton Public School district.

Betty enjoyed many hobbies and interests, especially as an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed time spent with cherished friends as part of the "Happy Hookers" craft group, volunteering for the Easthampton Helping Hand Society, and supporting the Boys and Girls Scouts. Betty cultivated many long-term relationships throughout her years and enjoyed returning to New England during the summers to enjoy lunch and catching up with friends. Betty was active in her church family in Easthampton and was a Deacon at the Pink Church, Pompano Beach.

Betty and Dick enjoyed many years of boating on the Connecticut River, travelling to ports in MA, RI and Long Island, NY. They enjoyed Caribbean, Mexico, Mississippi River and Panama Canal cruises, and dancing at the Elks Lodge in Pompano Beach.

Betty is predeceased by the love of her life, Richard Edward Torrey, beloved daughter, Linda Dugas and grandson, Brian Dugas. Betty will be greatly missed by Diane Pacocha (Edward) of Ludlow, MA, David Torrey and Jennifer Adrian (Kent) both of Santa Rosa, CA, her sister Sandra Gosselin of Ludlow, MA and her son-in-law Denis Dugas of Southampton, MA. Betty leaves her much loved grandchildren Eric (Melissa) Dugas, Jeffrey (Martha) Dugas, Kathryn (Mark) Larrieu, Alyson (Dustin) McGregor, Haley (Nicolas) Lobik, Hannah Combs, as well as eight cherished great-grandchildren.

Family services to take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
