Elizabeth Bette Veerhusen, 80, of Muscatine, Iowa, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19 , at the Trinity Episcopal Church. The Rev. Bartholomew Ryan will officiate. Committal service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Forrest Hill Cemetery, Madison, Wis.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church. Online condolences may be left for the Veerhusen family at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Mrs. Veerhusen was born on July 30, 1923, in Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of Evan Dale and Mae (Frace) Field. She married Robert Helm Veerhusen on July 1, 1942, in Pennsylvania.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church; St. Mary's Altar Guild, Mus-Quo-Ta Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, 50-year member of the AAUW, Twentieth Century Club, member of Executive Board of Muscatine Arts Council and Past President of the Fortnightly Club.
She received the Excellence in Preservation Award for the Alexander Clark House by the City of Muscatine in 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Dale H. Veerhusen, of Columbia, Mo., and Joseph R. Veerhusen, of Mabelvale, Ark.; one daughter, Vera V. Eshbaugh, of Muscatine; four grandchildren, Brendon B. Towle and Shannon C. Towle, of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Victoria E. Veerhusen and Regina M. Veerhusen, of Mabelvale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Helm Veerhusen.
