Elizabeth Zelinsky Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 6, 2023.
On May 2, 2023, we bid farewell to a faithful servant of Jesus, Betty Zelinsky. We release her into the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Betty reunites in heaven with her family, husband Peter, her daughter Lisa, sister and Brother-in-law, Maggie and Al Toth, and friends who left this earth before her.

She is loved and will be missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Deana Zelinsky (Lamb), Grandchildren Brianne and Michael Carew and Elissa and Zach Veenstra, Jordan and Leah Zelinsky and their children, Betty's Great-grandchildren, Shay and Tanner, and her special niece and nephew, Kristy Toth and David Custeau.

Thank you to extended family who have been part of our mom's life, both Postas and Zelinskys, as well as the Hungarian community. We thank God for friends, Carole and Frank Barker, Dan and Eleanor Thompson, and all the Officers and Soldiers who have been part of her life. Our family thanks the caring staff of Mount Nemo Christian Nursing Home who have been a constant presence for mom these past 8 years.

We will meet to celebrate Betty's life:
Monday May 15 with visitation at 10:00am followed by a memorial service at 11:00am at The Salvation Army Burlington Community Church, 2090 Prospect St, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Burlington Salvation Army.

If you´re fortunate in life, a person comes along with the outstanding qualities to be a devoted friend. That´s Betty. With her lively mind, infectious sense of humour and deep abiding faith, Betty made life terribly fun and funny. We met when I was a reporter writing about poverty and she was working in family services at the Salvation Army in Milton. Her reputation for achieving miracles was established. You had to have an unlisted number or roller skates to get away from Betty according social workers. She showed unequalled determination advocating for the needy. So many stories and so many many people were helped by Betty´s unbelievable kindness. I thank God for Betty standing beside me all the years. She´s at peace and reunited with her beloved Pete, daughter Lisa and all her missed family who have gone before her. Deepest condolences to Richard, Deana, and family. Betty´s memory lives on with every act of kindness.
"We grieve but go forward."
Much love,
Alana, Craig, Rylan and Evan
