THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Ella Mae Steed Russell, 89, died Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House.
She was born on June 8, 1920 in Davidson County to Marvin Steed and Martha Eldora Hunt Steed. She was a nursing assistant at High Point Regional Hospital and a member of Unity United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Lindsay Russell on November 1, 1990, whom she married on December 6, 1939.
Surviving are her daughters, Barbara Yandle of Thomasville, and Patricia Murphy and husband David of Lexington; three grandchildren, Marty Ferrell (Marty), Toby Lynn Pendleton (Gerald), and Stacy Ferrell (David); five great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Donnie B. Durham officiating. Mrs. Russell will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until the hour of the service. The family will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. and at other times at the home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or to Unity UMC, 608 National Highway, Thomasville, NC 27360.
