Ellen P. Briggs

Ellen P. (Chicklowski) Briggs, age 62, passed away at home on July 18, 2022. She was born on Jan. 9, 1960 in Springfield, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Patricia M. (Newman) Chicklowski. Ellen most recently worked as a Personal Care Assistant, but spent over 30 years in the food industry as a waitress and cook. Most notably known for her many years at Anthony's Catering. She is survived by her husband Joseph P. Briggs of Springfield; 2 sons, Michael Briggs and his fiancé Alicia Parzych of Springfield, and Andrew Briggs of Springfield; 1 daughter, Cayla Briggs of Agawam; 2 brothers Anthony “Chuck” Chicklowski and his wife Georgia of Chicopee and Allan R. “Bobby” Chicklowski of Tampa,FL; 1 sister-in-law, Angela Briggs of Springfield and 3 beloved grandchildren, Bradley, Briella, and Cora. She is predeceased by 2 brothers, Mark and Kevin Chicklowski. Ellen was an avid fan of music, with a particular love for The Beatles. A self-proclaimed "Mermaid in another life" she loved spending time at the ocean with her family and friends at Misquamicut Beach, Rhode Island. Above all, Ellen's favorite thing to do was spend time with her children and grandchildren. Ellen was known for her infectious personality. She lit up the room wherever she went, sharing her true gift of making people feel special and loved. She made a lasting impact on every soul she touched, leaving behind fond memories and a number of laughs. Of the many personality traits Ellen was known for, her selflessness truly stood out. Caring for everyone around her, there were no limits to what she was willing to give to others. She will hold a special place in the hearts of so many, and her memory and spirit will be kept alive by those who know and love her. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee followed by a Mass in Mary Mother of Hope Church at 11:30 AM.
