Ellen Knapp Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Ellen, at the age of 72. Loving mother to Greg (Bonnie), Michael (Kelly), and Cheryl (Austen). Proud Grams to William, Lydia, Aidan, Bridget, Hunter, Colby, Kayla, Brady, Mason, and Harper. Predeceased by her father (George), mother (Marion), and brother (Laurie). Ellen will also be sadly missed by her extended family and friends. A gifted musician, she expressed her love and joy through her music. We will miss hearing her play. She was also proud to have been a respected teacher with the school board, and a violinist for the Hamilton Philharmonic and Niagara Symphony for many years. Ellen donated to many charities throughout her life. She had a deep admiration for animals, and loved sending silly animal pictures and videos in order to spread some laughter. Mom loved to chat, and our exceptionally long chats will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at Brewer's Blackbird Kitchen and Brewery, 375 Wilson Street East in Ancaster, on Wednesday, February 23rd from 6 - 9pm. In accordance with current Covid-19 guidelines, venue capacity is limited and thus brief visits are encouraged in order to accommodate all guests. Please do not hesitate to contact family for any questions regarding the memorial service. Arrangements entrusted to Dodsworth & Brown Funeral Home, Ancaster (905) 648-3852. Ellen and I first met in 1968 whenI was dating her brother Laurie. We were both just 18 and were just beginning our new careers as Elementary school teachers. From that moment on, our lives took a parallel path. We both taught school until our children were born. We both had three children, two boys and a girl.
As the years passed, we kept in touch only sporadically because of life's demands, but when her brother Laurie became very ill, she was a great support for me. After Laurie passed away, we became very close friends. We were in touch nearly every day. I'm going to miss her very much. I've caught myself going to call her several times this past week. Her death is a great loss for me.

Dear Greg, Michael & Cheryl - Very sorry for your loss and want to extend my sincere condolences. Ellen was a lovely person and I will miss her. She taught my daughter piano lessons for over 10 years - Nicole also sends her condolences.

I was friends in elementary school with Ellen and enjoyed listening to her playing violin. I also knew her husband.
I am so saddened to hear of her passing. May she rest ín peace.
