Ellen T. "Terry" Krantz, 79, of Carbondale, died Dec. 3 at home after a brief illness.
Born March 6, 1941, in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Natalie Goode Krantz.
Terry had been raised by and resided with her two late aunts, Mary Krantz, a former Carbondale public school educator, and Gertrude Krantz, a former principal of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. Terry was a 1959 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and received both her bachelor and master degrees in education from Marwood University. She had been an active member of the Carbondale Chapter of the Marywood Alumnae Association. Before her retirement, Terry was an elementary teacher for the Scranton School District, having taught at the John J. Audubon School for many years. She was a member and former treasurer of the Mu Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma.
She was a gifted vocalist and performed with several local theatrical and musical groups, including the Encore Theatre, St. John's Players and most recently, Classic Voices. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, and sang with its choir.
She is survived by a brother, David Krantz, Carbondale; and several cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Twp. Those attending are kindly asked to wear a mask.
