Ellen Marie Norton

Ellen Marie Norton of Skowhegan, ME, passed away on March 13, 2022 in Portland, ME. She was surrounded by her family and close friends.
Originally from Dorchester, MA, Ellen was born in 1964. She was the daughter of the late Leo and Eleanor (Dolan) Norton. She grew up in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School in 1982.
Ellen was employed by the Department of Youth Services in Brockton and Bridgewater State Hospital before becoming an organizer with Service Employees International Union, representing healthcare workers throughout Massachusetts. She was remembered by co-workers as having a huge heart, being hilariously funny, outraged by injustices, and in times of crisis was one of the bravest people they've ever known.
To her true and adopted nieces and nephews, she was the "Cool Aunt" who always showed up and made the campfire bigger, had a trunk full of fireworks, played paintball, and taught them to fish for stripers. Things were more fun when Auntie was around.
She is survived by her brothers, Leo Healy of Taunton and Leo Norton and his wife Meredith of Amesbury, sister, Joan Mastro and her husband John of Methuen, and nieces and nephews, Connor Norton, Danny Norton and his wife Tia, Joseph and Jacqueline Mastro, and Heather Healy, and her dear friend, Bob D'Arcy. She was loved and will be sorely missed.
