Ellen Louise Sutter, 82, of rural Effingham, died at 2:39 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Church of God, Effingham, with Wayne Absher officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or to the donor's choice. Mrs. Sutter was born July 6, 1927, in Moccasin Township, rural Beecher City, the daughter of Everett and Gertrude (Doty) Cox. She married Milton Wade Sutter June 29, 1946. She was retired from St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, and was a member of First Church of God, Effingham. Survivors include her husband, Milton Wade Sutter of Effingham; son, Dwight Sutter of Effingham; daughter, Darlene Lofton of Effingham; twin sisters, Edith Lewis of Shelbyville and Ada Long of Dayton, Ohio; sister, Dolly Willford of Decatur; grandchildren, Shane Sutter, Amanda Barrett, Joshua Sutter and wife, Hope, William Lofton and wife, Samantha; great-grandchildren, Chloe Sutter, Cooper Sutter and Renesa Barrett; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law, Renesa Sutter; brothers, Owen Cox, Loren Cox and Hubert Cox; and sisters, Cleta Cox, Ruth Summers, Vivian Brown and Jean Elam.
