VAJDA ELLENOR WILLIAMS, R.N.
Age 90, of Reston, VA, formerly of O'Hara Twp., passed away Friday, December 2, 2011, in Reston, with her daughters at her bedside. Wife of Stephen Vajda, Jr. (deceased 1992). Survived by daughters Kathryn Vajda, wife of Stephen Fentress Avon, NY; Pamela Golan, wife of Nathan Golan, Reston, VA; granddaughters Tamara and Leah Golan and grandson Samuel Golan, Reston, VA. Ellenor graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1944 and Master in Letters in 1949. She was a member and National Vice President of the Sigma Theta Tau Honorary Nursing Sorority. Ellenor was Instructor in Surgical Nursing and Assistant Professor of Medical Nursing, at University of Pittsburgh from 1944 to 1957. She married Stephen Vajda, Jr. in 1957. At Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, Ellenor served as President of the Women's Association and as Deacon. She was a longstanding member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Colonial Dames and was active in preservation of the Pittsburgh Block House. She enjoyed antiques, cooking at home and boating at her summer home at Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. Friends received Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave., Aspinwall. A Memorial Service will be held Friday 11 a.m. at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, 384 Fox Chapel Rd. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Lung Association.
