Elmer Otis Fortenberry Jr., 87 years old of Hammond, LA, died Saturday, May 19, 2011 at North Oaks Medical Center. He was born on Saturday, May 10, 1924, in Ponchatoula, son of the late Elmer and Isyl Ferrin Fortenberry Sr. . Surviving are sister, Lanell F. Bruhl, sister and brother-in-law, Dell F. & Norman E. Barkurn, sister, Caroline F. Reed and numerous nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers Elbert L. and John E. Fortenberry. Friends will be received Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 8:00 am until services begin at 11:00 am at New Sharon Baptist Church in Husser with Bro. Kent Newell officiating. Interment will follow in the New Sharon Baptist Church Husser, LA. Contributions may be made to the New Sharon Baptist Church Building Fund.
