Gordon F. Stockhammer

A celebration of the life of Gordon F. Stockhammer, 71, John Anderson Drive, Ormond Beach, who died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, at Florida Hospital Oceanside, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 29, at the Pinello Funeral Home Chapel, 1036 Derbyshire Road, Daytona Beach. A reception will follow the service in the community room. Mr. Stockhammer was born in New York City and attended Hofstra College, Hempstead, Long Island, N.Y., and earned his bachelor of business administration in 1956. Shortly after graduation, he entered the U.S. Army. Gordon's duties during his career included serving as Operations Officer in Germany, an Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of Syracuse, as Chief Weapons Branch, Major Items Division in Vietnam, an Ordnance Maintenance Officer in Turkey, and finally as Maintenance Staff Officer at Fort McPherson, Ga. His awards include the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. Gordon retired from the Army as a Lt. Colonel in 1977. After his career in the Army, Gordon was able to take advantage of his love of traveling by being a travel agent in Atlanta, Ga. He retired from his second career in 1994 and moved to Ormond Beach in 1998. Gordon is survived by his brother, Dr. Stanley F. Stockhammer Jr. (Diane), Ormond Beach; three nephews, Stanley F. Stockhammer III (Amanda), Glenn W. Stockhammer and Kris Stockhammer, all of Ormond Beach; a stepnephew, William Boyd (Karen), Ormond Beach; stepniece, Jacqueline M. Sarzier, (Thomas), Ormond Beach; three great-nieces, Samantha Stockhammer, Jillian Stockhammer, and Brooke Stockhammer, and two great-nephews, Nicholas Stockhammer and Slade Stockhammer, all of Ormond Beach; his cousin, Paul R. Stockhammer, Atlanta, Ga.; his former sister-in-law, Linda Stockhammer, Ormond Beach, and his beloved Yorkie, "Zak."
