HAYWARD , Eloise Irene (nee Dryden) May 30, 1922 - January 7, 2010 Eloise Irene Hayward (Dryden) passed away peacefully at age 87 after a year long battle with cancer. Eloise was married to Douglas Hayward of Regina, SK on January 21, 1943 and was married for over sixty years. Eloise moved to Regina upon their marriage and relocated to Calgary in 1999 with her husband Doug. Eloise was predeceased by her husband Doug, and her brother Hugh Dryden and five sisters, Helen, Lorraine, Ede, Winnie and Isobel. She is survived by her sister Wilma Gresty of Lumby, B.C., her son, Brian and his wife Lynn. Eloise was a homemaker in early years, and later worked for several years as a Supervisor of crafts at the Council for Crippled Children and Adults in Regina. Eloise was known for her care giving ability spending many years supporting her husband while he was at the Colonel Belcher Care facility and spent a lot of time with three of her sisters when ailments took their toll. Eloise was a gifted, and essentially self taught artist, in all forms of handicrafts from leather work, needlepoint, ceramics, oil, pastels, china and porcelain painting. Both Eloise and Doug taught ceramics in Regina in their spare time and after retirement, they relocated to Calgary to be close to their son. Eloise continued in oils and porcelain painting and often won ribbons at the Calgary Stampede. Eloise will be remembered for her artistic talents and her ability to give of herself, when she felt someone could use her help without even asking or expecting anything in return. She will be missed by her family members and friends especially Marg and Art Shellenberg and Marguerite Upton who were a tremendous support for Eloise over the last several years. Brian.
Your mother instructed my mother in china painting for many years in Regina. My mother thought very highly of her, and was very thankful to have her. My condolences to you and your family. I'm sure your mother will be missed greatly.

Brian,

Your mother was a beautiful woman. She taught me the value of marriage for what it is in sickness and health. She was a mirror to me in the ability to give without expectations and to stay strong and focused on what is important. I feel blessed to have had Eloise in my life.
Love ya Brian,
Shannon

Brian, a beautiful tribute to your mother. Being a lover of handiwork myself, I can appreciate her artistic abilities and especially that she shared them with so many others. Our thoughts are with you. Dena and Dan Miller
