Elsie Flaccavento Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 6 to Apr. 13, 2022.
Elsie Johanna (Marakowitz) Flaccavento, 81, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, formerly of Carolina Shores, completed her journey to her eternal home in heaven on March 28, 2022. Born April 9, 1940, in Long Island, N.Y., daughter of the late Frank and Anna Marakowitz. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Robert Anthony Flaccavento, who passed away in 2019; and her niece, Lynette Basta Alicea. She is survived by her sister, Deanna Basta; daughter, Debbie and husband, Jim Lenzi; son, Robert Jr. and wife, Jill; grandchildren, Andrew Lenzi and special friend, Paige McInroy, Brett Flaccavento, Megan (Lenzi) Lloyd and husband Josh, Zachary Flaccavento; niece, Regina (Basta) Ford and husband Kirby; great-nephew, Antonio DeGuida, and great-niece, Samantha DeGuida. After hairdressing school and working as a stylist, Elsie met the love of her life and they married in 1961. They relocated to the Pocono Mountains area of Pennsylvania where they owned and operated the Willow Dell Resort and later the Heritage Motel before retiring to North Carolina. Elsie enjoyed golf, traveling, playing cards and cheering on her Dallas Cowboys and Duke Blue Devils. She loved entertaining friends and family at home with her delicious cooking and welcoming nature, but her greatest love was that of her family! Elsie's family would like to thank the staff, caregivers and friends from Elmcroft of Southport, Autumn Care of Shallotte and Lower Cape Fear LifeCare. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare. Private online condolences may be sent to the family at www.brunswickfuneralservice.com.
