ELSIE ROSALIA LICHTENWALD June 25th, 1934 July 11th, 2010 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend at Royal University Hospital. Elsie leaves to mourn her husband of 60 years, Alvin; children, Donna (Brian) Anderson, Annette (Clarence) Konschuh, Larry (Cathy), Mary Jane (Malcolm) Zimmer, Duane (Lorelei), Bob (Wendy), John (Elaine), Keith (Debbie), Catharine Michalenko and Brian (Vivian); 33 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Streisel and Mona (Frank) Lipinski; brother, Arnie (Dodie) Flegel, sister-in-law Gagie (Bob) Foston; special friends, Helen Flegel, Gladys Murphy and Jean Syrenne as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Elsie was predeceased by her son, Steven; parents, Joseph and Elizabeth and brotherin-law, John Streisel. Mom's reason for being was for that of her family and friends. Her strong faith and Christian morals created a following of love and respect for those who knew her. We could always go to her for words of wisdom and support. Through difficult times she was grateful for the comfort of Christ at Mass, and the beads she worked through her fingers as she petitioned God to work in the lives of her loved ones and in our society. Elsie was born in Grayson, SK in 1934 and was the second oldest daughter to Joseph and Elizabeth Flegel. She married her school sweetheart and had 11 children. When her husband was out of town working she kept the family going. She was a master seamstress, cook and gardener always going above and beyond to help her loved ones. Elsie's remarkable abilities, organizational skills and faith made her a constant inspiration. Her life was a true witness of the gospel. Vigil for Elsie will be held on Friday, July 16th at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 17th at 10:00 a.m. Both services from Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church (114 Kingsmere Place) with Rev. Father Ken Beck and Rev. Father Len Cyr concelebrating. A Private Family Committal will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with Father Len Cyr presiding. We would like to extend our thanks to Dr. Stalker, Dr. Pollock and all those who contributed to her well being. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Elsie's memory may be made to the Development and Peace (c/o Holy Spirit Parish 114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon, SK S7J 3V7).
