Elsie Tyler Obituary
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert "Cotton" Tyler III; her parents, Opal and John Currey; her brothers, John and Tommy Currey; and her sister-in-law, Fanny Currey.
Survivors include her husband, Robert "Poppy" Tyler Jr.; daughters, Darri Tyler Banks (Gary), Liz Tyler-Beck (James), and April Tyler Anderson; son, Jayme Tyler (Christie); sister, Amy Olds; sisters-in-law, Renee Smith, Becky Moyer, Rhonda Frye, Pat Morgan, and Rose Malee Morang; brothers, Phillip Currey, Howard Rick, and Mick Morang; brother-in-law, Richard Tyler; and special brother-in-law, John Mayes; mother-in-law, Eva Smith; grandchildren, Robert "Grump" Tyler (Becky), Desiree Beck (Blake Burden); Justin Clayton Beck; Caitlyn Banks, and Farrah Tyler; several aunts, uncles, cousins, a host of friends; and her two little companions, Fat Boy and Pimp.
Pallbearers will be Justin Beck, Chauncey Currey, John Mayes, Joe Smith, Daniel Eiland, and Frankie Ray.
Honorary pallbearers are Tony Guthie, Bubba Gandy, Blake Burden, Dr. Melanie Graham, Dr. Pamela Hughes, the Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center, and Northside Athletics and fans.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Northside High School Athletics.

Else, what a glorious time you must be having this week! Enjoy all the hugs that you have been missing. We will miss you so much but we know that you will never be anything but happy and well. The kids and grandkids will take care of Dear One and each other. And the birds are fed tonight! I love you.

What a life lived. Memories of her will live on after her. A legacy of love is what she will be most
remembered. Her love of her family and friends. I have been forever grateful of how she helped me when I needed it most. She was one of many adopted mothers that helped me become the woman I am today. I am so sorry for your loss and continue to hold her family up before God in prayer. I pray you find comfort in Christ through the next few days and years to come. My love to all of you.

I'm so sorry we were out of town and missed the service. I loved being around Elsie the few times I saw her and will never forget the surprise visit from her and Santa when they showed up unexpectedly on Christmas Eve a few years ago and took pics of my grandbaby sitting on Santa's lap. She was a hoot and a loving mother, wife, granny and general good person all around. Sorry for your loss just isn't enough. Hope things go well in Kansas. And, oh, maybe now I can beat your high score in Bejewled Blitz woman! :-)

I am so brokenhearted at the news of Elsie's death that I can hardly think what to say. As Rhonda Boatman said, Else was more than a friend, more than a mentor, my second cousin, she was family. I'll never forget our first meeting in Grove, papers with genealogy information spread all over the bed and the two of us talking for hours - and, yes, doing a little giggling, too. The reunion will never be the same. Else was smart, very smart, funny, and always able to catch the edge of a truth and and with acute insight lay the whole story open. My love for her will pass only when I do.

I am so glad I got to know Else. My life is richer because of her and yet poorer because of her loss. My thoughts are especially with Robert (((hugs))) and her children and grandchildren. She was remarkable and will be missed.

We knew Granny, Poppy and Jason through sports at Northside High. Thank you for the memories through their presence and her pictures of Ashton's sports. We always looked forward to seeing them at the next event. Such a sweet couple and Granny was so talented with her camera. We are so sorry for your loss and know she will be greatly missed.
