SAN BENITO, TX.-
Elva S. Longoria, 79, of San Benito, Texas passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas surrounded by her loving family.
She was a lovely person, never had an enemy but always made friends. She owned and operated Elva's Beauty Salon from 1957 to 1972. She was a member of Jaycettes and participated for many years in the St. Benedict Catholic Church Carmeza. She later worked at Lacks Jewelers and Sweeny's at Valle Vista Mall. She was a mother and mentor to many young women starting their careers in the beauty salon business.
She is preceded in death by her sisters, Fela Bridges and Abigail Villarreal.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Eliazar G. Longoria; sister, Alma (Joe) De La Garza; children, Dee Dee (David) Reza, GiGi (Edward) Ousley, Trizzie (Jim) Waggoner; sister in law, Elia Longoria and Nena Arriaga; her surrogate daughters, Janie (Juan) Lucio and Polly (Joe) Sosa; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and adopted nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 2:00 pm at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito. In accordance with her wishes a cremation will follow and burial will follow at a later date.
