Elvira Dove Obituary
Elvira Elizabeth Dove nee Hord, age 94, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 after a long illness.
She was born on April 14, 1924 in Akron to the late Thomas Henry Hord and Georgianna Hord nee Jackson.
Elvira is survived by her beloved husband of 72 years, Ray Allen Dove; one son, Ray T. Dove, and three daughters, Rita Dove and husband Fred Viebahn; Robin Waynesboro and husband Nelson; and Rhonda Harrison and husband Chris. Her memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren Aviva Dove-Viebahn, Nelson Waynesboro III, Neva Waynesboro, and Daylen Harrison, as well as great-granddaughter Saoirse Dove Viebahn-Miller.
She was a life-long member of Wesley Temple A.M.E. Zion Church and was deeply involved in church activities, from singing in the choir as a teenager to serving in the Young Adult Missionary Society ("Ys") and The Silver Leaf Club. She was an expert seamstress and milliner and a devoted wife and mother. Before her illness, she enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Stewart and Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

Hello Ms Robin Waynesboro. Sorry to read of the passing of your mother. I am wondering if your husbands father was the Nelson Waynesboro that worked at the Mayflower Hotel in the late 1950's. My father John Noonan (desk clerk at the Mayflower)considered Mr. Nelson Waynesboro Sr., a very dear friend.
