Elwin Beed Clark Jr., affectionately known as "Buck," passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025 with his family by his side, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, dedication, and deep compassion for others.
Born in Harrisonburg, Virginia on August 30, 1935, Buck was raised on a cattle farm in Hagerstown, Maryland. He graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1954 and went on to attend Hagerstown Junior College. He later earned a degree in Communications from American University in 1959, supporting himself through school while working for the Sunbeam Corporation in Washington, D.C., managing apartment buildings and organizing promotional events.
Before beginning his professional career, Buck toured Central and South America and then enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served in Germany with the Army Security Agency, gaining the respect of his peers and superiors alike.
After his military service, Buck resumed work with Sunbeam and was later transferred to Philadelphia. There, he began a successful career in insurance, first with New York Life and then with Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company, where he rose to the role of Assistant Director of Sales.
In 1976, Buck embraced entrepreneurship as the owner of Modern Cleaners in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. After closing the business in 1996, he was a driver with Hermes Transportation and Verdini Associates in Harrisburg.
In 2003, Buck found his most rewarding role yet - driving a school bus for the Springfield School District in Delaware County. For more than a decade, he safely transported students from Sabold Elementary, E.T. Richardson Middle School, and Springfield High School. Known for his reliability, warmth, and sense of humor, Buck was honored for his work on the district's Special Transportation Team. He often said he considered the families along his route to be part of his extended family.
Buck was a proud member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and the Society of Professional Journalists (Sigma Delta Chi). Throughout his life, he was known for his wit, loyalty, and unwavering sense of purpose.
Above all his achievements, Buck was the world's greatest father. He raised his children with quiet strength, steady guidance, and an unwavering sense of love. He is survived his daughters, Laura Ann Mosny (widow of Dennis), Brianna Nastasi (John), Mary Frances Luard (Pete), Elizabeth McDaniel (Will), and Sarah Stoney (Joseph) and his son, Patrick Clark. Buck's love for his children was steady and unconditional, and he found joy not only in their accomplishments, but in the everyday moments of conversation, lots of laughter, and decades of memories. He is also survived by two stepdaughters, Kathleen McLaughlin and Kelly Mervine and his bonus daughter, Nita Collins. He has three grandchildren, Jonathan, Bryan, and Layla. He is also survived by his only sister, Pat Stickler.
