He was born in Sunbury on Dec. 6, 1933, a son of Ada Smith Heller of Sunbury and the late Francis Heller. He was married to the former Mary Zerbe.
Mr. Heller served in the United States Navy.
He was formerly employed by Fox Pools in York and Phillips Industries in Selinsgrove.
He was a life member of the Sunbury Moose and the Sunbury Eagles lodges.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by five sons and three daughters-in-law, Elwood C. Jr. and Cheryl Heller of Red Lion, Eugene M. Heller of Sunbury, Ronald A. Heller and companion Tami of York, Todd R. and Rose Heller of Sunbury, and Edward F. and Sandra Heller of Sunbury; two daughters and one son-in-law, Thenda L. Perez of Sunbury and Karen L. and Clarence Drumheller of Sunbury; 26 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Heller of Sunbury, Gary Heller of Illinois and Ken Heller of Sunbury; and eight sisters, Margaret Smith of Mechanicsburg, Louise Bickle of New Berlin, Shirley Mowery of Sunbury, Patricia Soskoskie of Bethlehem, Darlene Mowery of Selinsgrove, Linda Kipple of Sunbury, Sheila Arnold of Rebuck, and Debra Danley of Northumberland.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Brown, and by two sons, Jessie and James.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jacob Matin officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
