Elyse Carolyn Clark

Elyse Carolyn Clark, 88, of Oakdale, CA, passed away on January 2, 2024. She was born in San Diego, CA. Elyse was a multi-talented artist, ballet instructor, and certified massage therapist. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She had a great friendship network with her class of '54. Elyse had a great sense of humor and was an animal lover, donating to causes that supported animals. She was a member of the Soroptomist club. A member of the Professional Photographers of Stanislaus and supported several professional photographers with her artwork.

Elyse was a dancer herself and learned various styles of dance, including the Cecchetti Ballet method, as well as folk dance, tap, and gymnastics. She was passionate about helping people through massage therapy and educated herself in many techniques. Elyse attended Modesto Junior College and Fresno State, where she studied art and costume design.

She is survived by her daughters, Roxanne Crews Mendes, Rebecca Crews Hunt, Brenda Bankster Barton, and her grandchildren, Reece Mendes and Brad Hunt. Elyse is also survived by her niece, Lindi Sue Steiger Phillips, and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Clark. Her parents were G.L. and Norma Steiger and brother Louis Steiger of Oakdale.

Elyse attended several churches of all denominations and valued her spiritual journey.

Services will not be held. In lieu of flowers or contributions, the family requests privacy during this time of grief.
