I send my condolences to Emily's family. I worked with Emily as the Architect for the Sixteen Acres Branch. She was a pleasure to work with and her commitment to the library had a very positive impact on the project. I know she will be missed by all who have worked with her and the many library patrons who's lives she enhanced.

I first met Emily as design architect for the renovations to the Main Library and the Indian Orchard Branch. She was a strong advocate for her libraries and determined in improving them as much as possible. She was a great client and a good friend. My sympathy to her family- you have lost a wonderful woman.

For Emily's family - I knew and admired her as a person who got things done - smart, shrewd and persistent through the four library construction projects that she carried the ball for. Please know that she was a valued colleague, as well as your Emily. And she was so proud of you all. My sincere sympathy.

Quiet strength... deep knowledge... a great laugh and a pleasant smile.
Words are never enough, but these are the ones I would use to describe Emily. They certainly are what I'll miss the most about her. I was lucky enough to work with her as a volunteer at the Springfield library.
My heart goes out to the Bader family, and you remain in my thoughts & prayers. Emily smiled often but never as brightly as when she talked about a wedding, a baby or the time spent with you who she loved so dearly.
Emily could look at any large challenge and simplify it into parts that people could act upon. She also had the rare ability to squeeze an awful lot of good out of something little.
In Forest Park on Barney's Hill there is a quote that says "To Live in Hearts we leave behind is not to die". Emily's caring legacy will certainly live on in the hearts of so many people: From family & friends...to the children in a library who discovered a whole new world in a book she pulled off a shelf... to the countless adults who found the information to make their world much better.

Dear Bader Family,
We at the Western MA Regional Library System and our member libraries mourn the loss of Emily. She was a wonderful person, with a gracious sense of humor and a great sense of perspective. I enjoyed driving her to more than 20 library meetings over the years, and we became quite fond of each other. The Western MA library world has lost a wonderful librarian and friend.

My sincere sympathy to the family of Emily Bader. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. So very knowledgeabe, may her soul rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon her. Family, thank God for the memories and accept the fact that she is in a better place, where there is no more suffering, no more pain. God Himself will wipe away all tears.
God Bless you all.

To the Bader Family,
I'd like to express my deepest condolences to you and the many people who were touched by Emily. I worked with Emily for over 30 years and I have too many wonderful memories of our time together to express here. It would take a book! It is hard for me to imagine a world without Emily in it. She had such a gentle yet powerful spirit and touched so many lives in a positive way. I am comforted in the knowledge that she will be an even brighter spirit to help guide our lives from above. Rest in peace Emily!

Mrs. Bader was practically my brother's second mother as he was Nick's best friend growing up. She was always kind and gentle giving off a vibe that made everyone around her feel safe. I am so sorry for your loss as are those that she has touched throughout the years.

Dear family and close friends,
My deepest condolences for your loss. I first met Emily at URI when we were in grad school together. Her devotion to her family and profession were the compelling forces in her life. She was so dynamic and forward thinking. She will be greatly missed by all who worked with her. Her struggle over the last few years show us all what true courage is.

Dear Hank and Kids,
I cannot express how saddened I am by Emily's passing. If it hadn't been for her, I would not be doing what I love to do-being a children's librarian. She had faith that she had made the right choice in hiring me, and I will never forget how she mentored me, and how much fun we had in the years before she left children's work for the front office. I will miss her saying "Hi Di". Even when she was not well, she was always positive and happy to be with her library family. My heart goes out to you. Diane Nostin Houle-Springfield, MA

To the Bader Family ~
My condolences to you on the loss of a truly amazing woman. Mrs. Bader had a positive influence on my life and, I'm sure, the lives of many other children while she was working at the 16 Acres Library. As a youngster, I can remember begging my Mom to let me walk to the Library after school, on the weekends and throughout the summer. Mrs. Bader was a fixture in the Children's Department and was captivating when she read books to us. She had a way of drawing you into the story. She inspired me to read and to keep reading. She always had the perfect recommendation when I finished one book and would thoughtfully hold it aside for me until I returned on my next visit.
Thank you for sharing her with us. She will be fondly remembered.
Warmly,
Becky Lartigue

Hank, Susanna and Nicholas:
I talked to her several months ago, and she was bright and cheerful.
We always had such fun at the 16 Acres Library, and went out to lunch together more often than not.
She shared with me her mother's recipe for tourtierre, which was always a huge hit, and which I have since lost.
She was pregnant with Nick when I met her, and I remember her tears on her first day back to work after maternity leave.
I also remember one Halloween when we wanted to go out to lunch, but were dressed as Raggedy Ann and Andy. She was a little hesitant because of our costumes, but I told her not to worry, that there would be a lot of people dressed up. Wouldn't you know that we were the only ones there in costume?
I also remembering comforting her when Willie died - she was in such pain.
How many times, Hank, did we go out to dinner or have it at each others' houses?
Susanna and Nicholas, I know how proud she was of you both, and her deep love of you. When we spoke awhile back, she was so excited about becoming a grandmother.
Remember me naming you "Susanna Banana?
She will be greatly missed, and her time on this earth was well spent.
