Emily Irene Clarke

Emily Irene Clarke, age 77 of Waterford, Michigan passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 21st, 2025. Emily leaves behind her children, Lynette, Trevor and Shawn (Andrea) as well as grandchildren Abby, Natalie, Chase and Chloe. Emily is survived by brothers Daryl (Sharon), John (Rhonda), sisters Debra and Marla (Carl). Emily was preceded in death by her biological parents Richard & Margy Schweitzer, foster parents Budd & Mary Lou Elenbaum, sister Ellen and brother Richard.

Emily attended Laker High School in Pigeon, Mi where she obtained her diploma. She received her Associate's degree from Oakland Community College and her Bachelor's degree from Wayne State University. Emily started a career in speech therapy but transitioned to nursing and never looked back. Emily spent nearly 30 years as an ER nurse and took great pride in helping those that were in need of medical attention. She spent most of her career at Pontiac General Hospital (N.O.M.C.) in Pontiac, Michigan. She also spent time working at Crittenton (Rochester, MI), Cheboygan Memorial (Cheboygan, MI) and Henry Ford (Sterling Heights, MI).

Emily enjoyed the simple things in life. She enjoyed gardening and often would say she had a "green thumb" for growing something from nothing. When at home she would either be in the yard, downstairs doing arts and crafts or she would be curled up in the couch or loveseat enjoying a good murder mystery novel. Emily did love to travel to her friends' up north getaways, to Bay Shore Camp in the thumb and to the Outer Banks of North Carolina which was one of her favorite places to travel in the summer.

Throughout Emily's life, she developed so many friendships from high school, college, work and neighborhoods that she cherished her whole life and was in contact with most until her final days. Emily will be missed but never forgotten. May God bless her soul.

Services will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, at Community Bible Church, 1888 Crescent Lake Road in Waterford, Michigan. The family will receive friends from 11 am until time of service at the church. Immediately after service there will be a luncheon at the Shark Club, 6665 Highland Road, Waterford, MI 48327. All are welcome to attend.
