Happy Birthday Mom. You are always in my thoughts and in my heart. May you be surrounded by love and light and all things precious today. I love you.

My sister Valerie wrote a beautiful tribute to our mom on Facebook. I would like to share part of it to have as a lasting legacy in her guest book:
In her 87+ years, she was married for over 69 years, raised 5 girls (my God, I can't imagine, especially puberty x5) and looked after the home while dad worked. With dad being out of town, she took on the challenges of a growing family, pets, gardening, preserves, babysitting, sewing, crafts and attended her weekly bowling league for many years. Since her fall a few years ago, we got brief glimpses of Mom from time to time. Although the mom we knew had disappeared, she was in a happy place. Believing she could walk, see grandma (her mom) in the garden, talking to her friends of old. In her mind, she had no gray hair, was only in her fifties and the number of children she thought she had varied from visit to visit. Not a bad place to be in your mind if you ask me ... The home care staff would ask for a recipe and she gladly shared out loud, "cooking with auntie Em" they called it. She will be missed for her love and support, her advice and her recipes, but most of all for being there as a guide for many years. Her love and guidance is shown in all her children and their children and so on .... that's what a mom does.

My cousin Lori Nestorovich had posted this comment on Facebook about my mom. It's so beautiful I had to share it:
My auntie Emily who recently passed away. I grew up with her and my cousin Sharlene May Kidd. We were only a year apart. Had many sleep overs there and loved her soft demeaner. She was so nice and always laughed at all my silly adolescent jokes. The meals were amazing and was always treated so well. I was fortunate to visit with her not that long ago although she was not herself she was talking about a story on the farm and she looked the same and sounded the same so it was a nice memory for me. Glad I was able to hear and see her one last time. I won't be able to make it to the funeral which kills me but just not possible with Dale's health issues right now. Will be thinking of Valerie Anne Shaver and Linda Druet and Jane. You will all be in my prayers - love you lots! x.x.x.x.x.
