Emma Ruth Carroll Barnett

BARNETT, Emma Ruth Carroll, 82, of Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest on the morning of May 12, 2009 at a local hospital. Ruthie was born on October 21, 1926 in Atlanta, Georgia, daughter of the late Clement C. Carroll and Lizzie Mae Howell Carroll. She was a retired administrative assistant with The Department of Military Science at The Citadel. Ruthie is survived by her daughter, Melanie Jeffcoat {Mark} of Goose Creek, SC; her daughter-in-law, Kay B. Godfrey of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Michelle Barnett of Charleston, SC, Bryce Jeffcoat {Jona} of New Britain, CT, Rebecca Gerhardt {Dane} of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Mildred Williams of Hilton Head Island, SC and Dorothy Crews of Snellville, GA.; and her faithful and beloved companion, Luca. She was predeceased by her former husband, Karl Barnett and her son, Jeffrey Barnett. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at McAlister- Smith, West Ashley Chapel, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414. The funeral will be held on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 10:00am at McAlister-Smith, West Ashley Chapel. The Rev. Christopher Barrett will be officiating.
