Emmett Johnson Jr.

Emmett "Bunny" Johnson Jr. of Brookneal, passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side on Monday, June 13, 2022. He was the husband of the late Patricia Scott Johnson.

Bunny was born in Charlotte County, on January 15, 1947, a son of the late Emmett John Johnson Sr. and Mary Clay Johnson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from RockTenn Paper Mill.

He is survived by two sons, Christopher S. Johnson (Cindy), and Gregory A. Johnson, all of Brookneal; a daughter, Danielle J. Watts (Jason) of Altavista; six grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Carrington and Aiden Johnson, Britney and Daniel Watts; a brother, Elvis Johnson of Gladys; a sister, Josephine Smith of North Carolina; sister-in-law, JoAnn Winn (Bill) of Madison Heights; brother-in-law, David Scott (Mary Helen) of Toano; a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lisa Ann Navarro; and a sister-in-law, Jere Scott.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Falling River Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Lane and the Rev. Brian Hart. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be performed at the grave by American Legion Post #36 and #232 of Altavista and Gretna.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Henderson Funeral Home and at the residence of Chris and Cindy, 405 Cook Avenue other times.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Brookneal Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 590, Brookneal, VA 24528
